In Portogruaro, during the first half of the 20th century, eng. Aldo Scarpa, trained for this profession by his uncle (Mr. Antonio Bon), opens the first technical studio of construction engineering on Via Mazzini. After the war, Aldo's son, eng. Giuseppe Scarpa, takes over the office and carries on the activity incessantly (see the gallery). In 2005, the firm changes its name to Studio Scarpa & Drouille and widens the range of services (planning, safety, accessibility, mobility, communication ...) for public and private commissions.
The urban office architecture gathers multidisciplinary expertise:
- Aldo Scarpa, architect: design, safety, accessibility / mobility path, green architecture
- Marco Scarpa, engineer: design, restoration, renovation, inspections, appraisals
- Murielle Drouille-Scarpa, sociologist and urban planner: projects development, research, communication, mobility pedestrian / design for all.
For matters concerning energy saving and working safety it cooperates with the company in Vicenza, Safety and Environment Study Centre Ltd.
The involvement of students and recent graduates fits beyond the scope of the study: to train young professionals and introduce them to the job world. Indeed, the studio has an agreement for training activities with the universities of Venice and Udine, and since 2005 the firm has hosted fifteen interns, all of whom were still students.
